What happens when 115 talented and practicing artists and designers come together under one roof? At ACAD, this mix leads to creative research, innovative exhibitions and conversations, and inspired and award winning teaching opportunties.
Art school provides an opportunity to embrace possibilities - to take a plunge and dive into new ideas, techniques and ways of thinking. It could all be a bit overwhelming without the support of professional practicing artists and designers to act as your guide - to help you make sense of how your current interests and developing skills relate to the many directions and opportunities ahead. Experts in their respective fields, ACAD faculty are also extraordinarily dedicated teachers.
With a strong investment in visual culture and a solid commitment to their own professional practices, ACAD faculty offer a wealth of knowledge and experience that is invaluable to students. Our 1:13 faculty to student ratio is impressive, and it means that ACAD students receive individual, hands on attention from internationally recognized faculty, who each bring academic theory and real-world practical knowledge into our studios and classrooms. For each of our ACAD students, our faculty members are ACAD faculty will be your champions, your critics, and your best resources.
ACAD's faculty members are some of the best artists, designers and critical thinkers in Canada and the creation of original works of art, design and scholarship is only one way in which they continue to contribute to the creative academic community — as artists and designers they are also active and involved community members, reaching out into our city and across the world with their practice and their involvement in collaborative exhibitions.
ACAD Faculty members are experts in their fields, contributors to critical discourse and research, and dedicated teachers and mentors for our students. Find out more about some members of this passionate group of artists and designers here.
