As one of two professional galleries on Campus, the Marion Nicoll Gallery is the home of student art and experiementation. Run by students, for students, the MNG has a long history of exhibiting some of Canada's most exciting artists and designers during their careers at ACAD. Don't miss what's on now!
The student run Marion Nicoll Gallery creates a unique context for education and experimentation among artist attending Alberta College of Art and Design. The MNG provides a link between educational and professional environments, fostering critical dialogue and public exhibition in three different settings both on and off campus. Modeled after a public not-for profit gallery, it provides students with career developing experience as administrators, jurors and submitting artists.
The Marion Nicoll Gallery is a student run exhibition space providing students with experience as administrators, submitting/exhibiting artists and jurors. The MNG stands for the conceptual freedom to exhibit in a not-for-profit, public space, the experimental freedom inherent in a student organization, and the need to present a diverse community of artists and designers with different approaches to their practices.
The + 15 Window Space is located in the Epcor Centre for the Performing Arts. Fronted completely by glass, the storefront is suited for small-scale installations or exhibitions. As part of the city’s +15 walkway system, the space has a diverse audience, and exhibitions run for a period of two months, and presents the opportunity to show alongside other Calgary artist run centres: Truck, Stride, The New Gallery and the Untitled Art Society.
The LRT Window is located in the ACAD/Jubilee hallway. The space is enclosed, with three large windows facing the hallway. This space is available to students for one month exhibitions, and is another opportunity to further engage the public.
Located in the Main Mall at ACAD, the MNG Main Space provides a setting for large scale installations, group shows and individual bodies of work, for a period of two weeks.
