Mobility and Exchange

The Alberta College of Art + Design, in conjunction with institutions from all over the world, participates in a unique international Mobility Program that provides cross-cultural experiences for students while assisting them in attaining their educational goals. Students have an opportunity to spend their third year studying at other art and design colleges and universities in North America, Europe and Australia.

Information For Outgoing Students

Both part-time and full-time students are eligible to apply; however, students must be full-time in their third year while on exchange. Please note that students who transfer to ACAD in the third year are not eligible to apply for the Mobility/Exchange program.

Mobility/Exchange Info Session

Info sessions for second year ACAD students will be held each year in October. Notification via email will be sent to students through their ACAD account for the upcoming info session. Attending the Info Session is mandatory for all students wishing to submit applications for Mobility/Exchange program.

However, any studio or material fees incurred through class registration (e.g. art supplies fees, film developing fees, etc.) may be collected by the host institution.
  • Language proficiency requirements of each institution are generally waived for exchange students, although it is important to caution applicants that the language of instruction at ACAD is English.
  • Although every attempt is made to place each student recommended for exchange, due to space or equipment limitations it may be impossible to accommodate a request for a particular discipline in a given semester.
  • Students must apply to and receive approval from the appropriate government agency for any necessary student visas and immigration documents to enter the province/state and country of the host institution.
  • Students must maintain adequate health insurance while participating in the exchange. Students make their own arrangements for insurance prior to their leaving the home institution.
