Applicants who do not satisfy the above Admission requirements are encouraged to consider admission to Artstream. Artstream is a collaborative program of the Alberta College of Art + Design and Bow Valley College, designed specifically for applicants who demonstrate artistic achievement but do not meet ACAD’s academic and/or English proficiency requirements. Upon completion of the Artstream program, ACAD will waive the academic and/or English proficiency requirements for admission.
If you are thinking of enrolling in courses at ACAD, you may consider applying as a Visiting Student or a Non-Degree student. Extended Studies also offers a broad selection of courses including some credit courses that can be applied to the First Year Studies requirements.
You may apply to register in courses on a non-degree basis. Non-degree registration requires a Non-Degree Registration Form (PDF). Non-Degree registrants will need to supply transcripts and a portfolio.
Courses in Visual Communications Design and Photography are restricted to degree students only.
If you are a student from another accredited post-secondary institution you may apply to register in courses at ACAD with a letter of permission from your home institution. Apply using the Visiting Student Registration Form (PDF).
Adult credit courses offered through Extended Studies make it possible for you to earn credits in several ways before you apply for admission to the college, or to increase your flexibility as an active ACAD student. Adult credit courses are open to adults who are not yet admitted to a program at the college as well as to ACAD degree students. These credit courses are taught by ACAD faculty and follow the same curricula as regular courses. You will be expected to abide by the same expectations and deliver to the same standards as degree students. These courses are rigorous and demand several hours of homework every week.
