Translations: Recent Tapestries by Jane Kidd

July 14 - September 29, 2012
ACC Feature Gallery, Edmonton

Former ACAD faculty member Jane Kidd will have a show of her work at the Alberta Craft Council Feature Gallery in Edmonton from July through September.

Translations features two of Jane’s current series: Possession Series and Land Sentence Series. These two bodies of work reflect the complications and contradictions of the issues with which we live. The narratives woven through both explore Jane’s interest in human/nature relationships.

Jane Kidd has been faithfully exploring symbolic narrative through the traditional processes of woven tapestry for more than twenty years.  She has been in the forefront of advocacy for this important form of disciplinary practice. Her work is found in private and public collections including the Canada Council Art Bank, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and The Canadian Museum of Civilization. She was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Art in 2001 and was awarded the Alberta Craft Council Award of Excellence in 2008.
