What's Happening

Paul P | Something Cloudy, Something Clear

September 27 - October 27, 2012
Illingworth Kerr Gallery | ACAD

John Singer Sargent produced his last body of work in the Rocky Mountains.  Paul P takes inspiration from Singer Sargent’s rendering of a spiritually transcendent back country isolated as it was from the demands of 19th-century western civilization.  For his exhibition at the IKG Paul P presents intimate prints produced in residence in the Print Media department of ACAD and recent small scale prints produced in Spain, Venice, Italy and Venice Beach, California.  His new work is a departure from his romantic male figures and cultured landscapes.  While is residence in Alberta in July, 2012 he has aimed to capture the increasingly abstract lines and forms that characterize the landscape between Banff, the Leighton Art Centre and ACAD.

A Creative Common - Creative Research Talks presentation coincides with the exhibition opening. Official public opening  will take place September 27, 5:00PM.
