Q. Do I have to pick my major now?
A. No, if you are interested in obtaining a BFA, you will pick your major at the end of your 2nd year. If you are interested in the BDes Degree, you will apply for your major at the end of your first year.
Q. Can I take classes any where else while I am at ACAD?
A. Yes, you can take classes at other institutions that will apply as credit toward your ACAD degree. Please check with the Registrar’s office on approved classes and institutions.
Q. Can I study abroad?
A. Yes, ACAD has a Mobility/Exchange program that you can apply to study abroad at partner institutions all over the world. Students apply for Mobility/Exchange in their 2nd Year to travel in their 3rd year.
Q. Can international students work on campus?
A. Yes, international students can obtain work permits to work off campus. Please see Paul Szymanowski in the Student Resource Centre for more information. Paul.szymanowski@acad.ca
Q. How do I register for courses?
A. Students who have been admitted to a degree program (continuing and new) register for courses online using ACAD webService. These students will be sent registration information at least three weeks prior to their earliest registration date.
Q. Will I have time to work off campus?
A. Yes, you will have time to work off campus, however, ACAD courses are rigorous and we recommend students working no more than 5-10 hours a week.
Q. What are the open hours for studios?
A. The ACAD building and studios are open from 6 am to 1 am. Some studios at ACAD with dedicated technicians will have different hours, please see each facility for more information.
Q. What kind of security is present on campus?
A. ACAD has security on patrol at all times during open hours. Security guards can be found at the Security booth in the Main Mall or by picking up the Red Emergency phones in most ACAD program areas.
Q. What opportunities are there to serve in student government?
A. ACADSA has a general election every academic year. For more information, please visit the ACADSA office in the Main Mall.
