Ad Rodeo Association
On April 4, 2014, ACAD faculty and students celebrated at the Ad Rodeo Association's Annual Anvil Awards night.
This celebratory night was specially designed for Calgary’s advertising business and ACAD’s School of Communication Design. The Ad Rodeo, a local advertising association, holds the Anvil Awards each year and hands out awards to advertising and design work judged to be the best in its category. Ad Rodeo is the celebration of creative excellence in Calgary.
Each year, the Ad Rodeo Society provides creative professionals the opportunity to meet, talk, learn, mentor and celebrate what they do through several events that culminate in the Anvil Awards. The Anvil Award represents the special talent and effort it takes to be recognized by your peers for creating the very best.
Three awards in particular stood out: a Lifetime Achievement Award given to Rik Zak, retiring faculty, Student Award, Best Response to a Brief to Chelsey Dyer, 3rd year ACAD student, and the first Scott Luit Memorial Award for Teamwork, Diligence and Positive Energy to Javier Olivares, graduating student. Though their individual strengths and contributions are different, these three individuals ably represent the devotion to creativity and design excellence that typifies the faculty and students of the School of Communication Design.
