Graphic Design I

Gain a solid understanding of visual communication design and the role of a graphic designer. Learn how to problem solve and generate ideas through sketching and drawing to develop traditional hand skills. Emphasis will be on using the elements and principles of design effectively while you work on in-class projects that push your creativity. You will use a variety of graphic methods to communicate ideas with images, typography, narrative illustration, and decoration. As a group you will analyze and critique graphic design in print media from product packaging to periodicals to logos as inspiration for your own work. Please see your course supply list online. Be sure to come prepared for the first class.

 

NOTE: This course focuses on developing hand skills; work is not done on a computer.
