FBRE 311 - Surface Design I (formerly Intermediate Surface Design)

This course focuses on the further development of a student’s technical skill, aesthetic and conceptual interests through surface design with an emphasis on various techniques of cloth dyeing and painting. In consultation with the instructor, each student will develop a proposal regarding a self-directed program of study. These objectives will be clarified and realized throughout the semester. Students will be encouraged to develop personal imagery and concepts and to work in a professional manner. Students are required to write an artist statement and make a class presentation based on independent research. Course content will be presented through independent studio projects, demonstrations, lectures, discussion and critique.

NOTE: Combines the former TXTL 311 and TXTL 313. Students completing TXTL 311 or TXTL 313 prior to September 1994 may not receive credit for this course.
