Artist Talk: Colin Menzies

Colin Menzies is an interdisciplinary artist, producing music videos, short films, and animated series under alias Subliminal Rabbit. Colin also manages Studio C, an art centre that creates inclusive culture through collaborative projects, art classes, and gallery exhibitions. Studio C is the recent recipient of the CCVO Innovation award and the Sandstone City Builder award, and described by Avenue Magazine as a place that ‘defies stereotypes and inspires invention’.

Artist Statement
My creative research practice strives to consolidate my social and psychological self-portrait.

Through a series of self-portrait paintings, I seek to map out my evolving understanding of my role as a performing social body.

Artist Talk: Su Ying Strang

Su Ying Strang is an artist and cultural worker based in Calgary, Alberta.

Hailing from the southern United States, Strang relocated to Canada in 2006 to pursue her BFA from the Alberta College of Art + Design.

In addition to her studio practice, Strang is the Director of The New Gallery, and the President of the Alberta Association of Artist-Run Centres.

Kainai knowledge keeper, Randy Bottle, will be presenting to ACAD students and staff on various issues relating to colonialism and reconciliation from a Blackfoot perspective.
