Film Screening: The River by Jean Renoir

Exquisitely shot in luminous Technicolour The River is a visual tour de force and a glorious, meditative tribute to the sights and sounds of Indian culture. It became the first Technicolor film made in India as well as first color film for director Jean Renoir, son of the impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

About Evan Penny

Evan Penny is a conceptually-based figurative sculptor and photographer living and working in Toronto, Ontario. Born in South Africa in 1953, Penny immigrated to Canada in 1964. He completed his BA with Honours in 1975 and his BFA in Sculpture in 1978, both at Alberta College of Art + Design.

Experience A Sublime Vernacular: The Landscape Paintings of Levine Flexhaug through a screening of the feature-length film Flexie! All the Same and All Different by internationally renowned filmmakers Gary Burns and Donna Brunsdale,(“Radiant City”, “Waydowntown”).

ACAD + CPO Collaboration - Weill & Glass: Voices of the Damned

ACAD will be collaborating with the Calgary Philharmonic on two musical works at the Jack Singer Concert Hall on October 30th providing innovative visual journeys.

ACAD’s CE3C (the Creative Environment for Emerging Electronic Culture) will be creating thepieces, produced by faculty member, Kurtis Lesick, directed by Alumnus, Greg Debicki, and created by a team of talented emerging artists who are current students in ACAD’s Media Arts program.
