“My research interests include material culture, affect theory, psychoanalysis and the autobiographical and testimonial object. I am currently working on an AFA funded project entitled 'The Garment Portraits: Villains, Victims & Heroes', a series of embroidered and appliqué works exploring the act of repair.”

Alexandra is a visual artist working in drawing, textile, print and digital media. In 2013, she received her PhD in Language, Culture & Teaching from York University for an interdisciplinary practice-led inquiry of text and print-making exploring relationships between learning, affect, “difficult knowledge” and the testimonial. In 2013, she also completed her MFA in Printmaking from the University of Alberta with the solo exhibition of “Fur Stories [ you are not wild enough for me ]” at FAB Gallery in Edmonton, Alberta. Alexandra is a permanent faculty member in the School of Critical + Creative Studies, and Chair of the School of Craft + Emerging Media.
