ACAD welcomes appointed + re-appointed members to Board of Governors

Alberta College of Art + Design is pleased to announce that the Minister of Advanced Education, Honourable Marlin Schmidt, appointed three new members and re-appointed two to ACAD's Board of Governors.  They are: 

Larry Clausen is returning to the ACAD Board for a second term. An entrepreneur and civic leader, Larry has considerable experience in the arts, board governance, and management. Larry is currently an Executive Vice President with Cohn & Wolfe/West, which specializes in reputation and issues management, crisis communication, client consultation, and strategic planning. Prior to his current role, where he also served as Vice President and Managing Partner and managed his own communications consulting firm for 18 years. He has been an active member of Alberta’s arts community as chair and member of the Alberta Ballet and as a member of the Honens piano competition. A resident of Calgary, Larry was a key contributor to the Calgary Downtown Association, chaired the Bill Brooks Prostate Cancer Benefit and is a board member of the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation.
 
Reid Cummings is returning to the ACAD Board for a second term. A lifelong dedication to leadership, client service and business process has led Reid to seek an appointment to the board of directors of the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD). Reid has 25 years professional experience with a focus on Finance and Audit.  He is currently a Director within Encana Corporation’s Internal Audit function where he leads Corporate Internal Audit and training related to business code of conduct, conflict of interest, and anti-fraud. Furthermore, he has helped establish teams and structure processes for Encana’s business units, while implementing several cross-division initiatives to enhance company services, project management, and governance. Reid’s experience also includes a Senior Manager position with PwC LLP. For the past year, he has been an integral member of the ACAD audit committee. He has also lent his time over the years to several community initiatives including the Chartered Professional Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, as well as coaching and program leadership with the Foothills Nordic Ski Club. 
 
Patti Dibski, new to the ACAD Board of Governors, is the owner of Gibson Fine Art, a contemporary art gallery, and partner at Interior Living, a boutique furniture & design store. An active Calgarian, Patti is well connected in the city's social, business, political, arts and recreation communities. She has involved herself in a variety of ways, including Leadership Calgary as a participant, Calgary Arts Development Authority as a director, Art a la Carte as the board chair, The Ranchmen's Club as a committee chair, several children's sports and school groups as a parent volunteer, and a numerous not-for-profit organizations as a fundraiser.
 
Kay Dholoo possesses an in-depth knowledge of program initiation, coordination, process mapping, and qualitative analyses and has over eight years of work experience designing customized solutions that satisfy business and customer needs and that lead to long-term partnerships. She has successfully completed her post-graduate studies in the field of international governance from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in California. Being a firm believer in continuous education, Kay has completed project management certification from the University of British Columbia. She is an active member of the Calgary UX community and Data for Good group.
 
Sondra Musa Graduated from ACAD in 1992 and received her BFA in 1996 with a major in Metal Smithing and Jewelry. She started her art career teaching expressive arts at In-Definite Arts Society to mentally/physically/ developmentally challenged adults. Over the years, she has been a business owner, supervisor, teacher, mentor, public speaker, Safety Officer and Emergency Medical Responder. Through her many careers, she has gained amazing insight and experience with people. Sondra has strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Looking back at her life, there are two things she has the greatest passion for; helping and supporting people, and a passion for art. Sondra hopes to combine her unique approach to most situations, her personal trials and tribulation, her education, background and life experiences, to truly have a positive impact on the people she will serve.
 
Joining our current Board members, these appointments come at a critical time for our institution as we have the strong leadership we need to move our strategic goals and objectives forward.
