Sharing Sad News UPDATE - A Gathering of Remembrance Details

It is with great sadness that I share the news that we lost one of our own faculty members last week.

Jim Norton, an instructor in the Glass program for over 25 years and a steadfast pillar of the glass community in Calgary passed away suddenly on Wednesday evening. (In Memorium announcement here)

Our deepest condolences go to Jim’s family, friends and his extended family in our very own glass community here at ACAD. Jim was a great mentor and instructor with a huge heart and a quick wit. He will be sorely missed by all of us.

Support services for the entire ACAD community (all faculty, students and staff) will be available in the form of individual grief counseling sessions on Monday, February 1 from 1-6 p.m. in Room 573a. Appointments can be made via sign-up sheet on the door.

Ongoing counselling support is available for students, as always, during regular office hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday). Appointments can be made via email (counselling@acad.ca) phone (403.284.7666) or in person. Students are also reminded of the “drop-in” timeslot each day for urgent needs (3 p.m. each day)

I know that you will all join me in giving the tight-knit glass community support while they go through the grieving process.

A Gathering of Remembrance will be held in ACAD’s Main Mall and Room 371 on February 11, 2016 @ 5:30 p.m.

Sincerely,
