Sacred Weft | An exhibition of tapestries woven by plains indigenous women

WHEN: Thursday, September 20 until Friday, January 18, 2018

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 1:30 until 4 p.m.

WHERE: Lodgepole Center, Alberta College of Art + Design

This tapestry collection was designed and woven by Plains Indigenous women participating in a revival of Salish weaving techniques. Honoring the rhythms of the seasons, the weavers gathered flowers, berries, plants and roots at the appropriate time, dyeing their threads with the native colours of the land. Woven with hope for future generations, these artworks capture the essence of an ancient art form and resonate with harmony, balance and healing.

Presented by the Lodgepole Centre & the ACAD Fibre Program with special thanks to the Stardale Women's Group Inc & Helen McPhaden.
